The 70th Brantford Kiwanis Music Festival is dedicated to the memory of    Mrs. Virginia Blaha, a long-time supporter, who is deeply missed by the music community and the Festival.

A new trophy in the piano discipline – the Diana Dumlavwalla Trophy, Section 9 – Spanish/Hispanic composers

Participation in BKMF piano classes in 2015 is a PREREQUISITE to compete in W. Ross Macdonald and Markwell J. Perry Trophy classes.

To participate in the Violin discipline Associate and Grade 10 major trophy competitions, competitors must be 20 years and under.

There will be new opportunities for sponsors and patrons to support the 70th Festival. Stay tuned for details.

Back Again For 2016

The Brantford Symphony Orchestra is pleased to present an exciting opportunity for young classically trained musicians. Promising soloists will be invited to perform with the BSO as part of its concert series this year. Eligible Disciplines are Piano, Strings, Voice – Classical, Guitar, Brass, Woodwinds and Percussion.
The Voice Trophy will be sponsored by Scott Chapin. The Voice competition is to inspire and encourage voice students to recognize the importance of both classical voice and music theatre voice study. The Voice award is $500.00 and a keeper trophy.
To qualify for The Voice competition, students are required to:

• Enter 3 classes in section 33 and receive a mark of 85 or over in one class; and
• Enter 3 Music Theatre classes 19 years and under and receive a mark of 85 or over.


2016 is the 70th year for the Brantford Kiwanis Music Festival. This year’s Festival started on Monday, 02-May through to Wednesday, 13-May-2016.

Co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Brantford and the Brantford Branch of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association, the festival is open to participants of all ages in various competition classes.

Delivered as a partnership between the Kiwanis Club of Brantford and the Brantford Branch of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association, the Brantford Kiwanis Music Festival (bkmf) is an annual adjudicated competitive festival that aspires to encourage children and youth to love music and performance while fostering the values of goal-setting, discipline, confidence and excellence.
